Alberta continues to be barraged by stormy weather as the Nazareth Lutheran Church in Standard was struck by lightning last night.
Witnesses say the Standard Fire Department was called to the church around 9 p.m. on August 2 to put out the blaze. The fire was caught early and there was minimal damage to the church.
Hot and dry daytime temperatures conditions have been making the recent evening lightning storms a fire hazard, as there were reports of Drumheller Fire responding to a grass fire caused by lightning near Dorothy on Wednesday evening.
