Aquaplex modernization project to start on May 1.

The Town of Drumheller has laid out a schedule for aquaplex renovations.

New upgrades to the facility include a new pool liner, hot-tub, upgrades to change rooms and reconfiguration of the pool basin with graduated entry. The project will be ramping up May 1.

“We want to make sure the transition for users is as smooth as possible,” said Andrea Leavitt, Aquaplex Manager. “We are working with schools, and other user groups to accommodate their needs as much as possible.”

These improvements were chosen as a result of many discussions with various council members as well as pool user groups last year. The end goal is to have an Aquaplex that is more accessible and enjoyable for users of all ages and swimming abilities.

While the construction is taking place, the outdoor pool will become operational for public use starting on May 15.

“Drumheller is fortunate to have both indoor and outdoor pool facilities,” said Mayor Terry Yemen. “There is nowhere else on earth that you can say that you were swimming under the World’s Largest Dinosaur – it’s an experience that we love to share all summer long.”

The last day of operation fo the indoor pool will be on Sunday, April 30 and visitors are encouraged to check in on the progress being made at www.dinosaurvalley.com.
