In the spirit of community, the Santa Cause 2 helped to bring Christmas to families in need.
Last Christmas Jamie Worman spearheaded The Santa Cause and set to work collecting toys and gifts for families in need. Last year about 40 families benefitted from the program.
This year he worked with Linda Buchamer of Top Rocker and James Cox, and was able to support about 30 families, serving about 60 children. These families either applied or were nominated. Worman said they simply gave until they ran out of gifts.
“This town again came together,” Worman tells inSide Drumheller. “It’s the people that give who deserve the credit, we just acted as a vessel.”
His group enlisted the help of Garrett Gregory, the front man of classic country band Chillbilly to kick off the campaign. They hosted a free concert at Top Rocker. Worman said from this event alone they collected about $2,500 worth of toys and $3,000 worth of gift cards.
He said they chose to distribute the gifts and gift cards before Christmas to help give those families the full experience. More than just receiving gifts, part of the experience shopping for family and friends.
