It might have been a cold day for a barbecue Saturday, December 2, but the efforts of two local hockey players are sure to warm the heart.
Thomas and Nicholas Chapin, sons of Cam and Marnee play for FunTeam and RecTeam. On Sunday, November 27, the team held its 23rd annual Charity Games. This is where players bring in food donations for The Salvation Army Food Bank. To underline the true meaning of giving, organizers don’t simply ask for a donation, but rather encourage each of the players to go out and earn what they wish to donate.
For the Chapin boys, this meant manning a barbecue at Freson Bros last Saturday. They were able to earn $370. They also received more donations and in total had $676.30 to go on a shopping spree at Freson Bros.
On Wednesday evening, December 7, they were able to stuff three shopping carts full of groceries and necessities to be donated to The Salvation Army.
This is the third time the duo has done this to support The Salvation Army food bank and are grateful to Freson Bros. for the opportunity and the community for its support.
