Al Price leads campaign for lift at Legion

Looking out for those who are mobility challenged, one man is leading a charge to have new lifts installed in the Drumheller Legion.
The Drumheller Legion has been without a lift for about a year, when it was damaged. The lift was aging and it wasn’t possible to purchase replacement parts to get it repaired.
Al Price was talking to staff at the Legion who were lamenting the loss of the lift, which allowed patrons who are mobility challenged to use the clubroom or attend events.
Price decided to raise the approximately $18,000 needed to purchase and install a lift at the main entrance to the club room, as well as one at the entrance to the basement.
He says he has been in contact with virtually every business in the community, and of the approximately 240 calls he had made, he estimates that less than a dozen were not able to give.
So far his effort has raised about $8,100, including a donation of $1,000 from ATB Financial.
“We couldn’t give back to a greater group of people,” said ATB Branch Manager Adrian Hartman.
Price says they are also looking at grants to support the project.
Those interested in learning more about the project, or to donate, can contact Price at 403-823-7306, or the Legion at 403-823-5611.
