Around 3 a.m. on Tuesday, April 19 the lobby ATM at the Delia Mountain View Credit Union was stolen, but was later recovered along with a stolen truck used in the crime.
Drumheller RCMP say that the ATM was towed out of the bank lobby and dragged away, and later located approximately 1 km outside Delia stuck in a ditch on Range Road 17-4. Also left with the ATM was a red F550 truck that was stolen from Trochu earlier in the morning.
Video shows that one male suspect was wearing a black jacket with "Security" written in white on the left chest, with a black nose and mouth covering that is commonly worn by motorcyclists. Video evidence also shows that the suspect was wearing red underwear.
The suspects were not able to get any money from the ATM.
“What we can assume is, because our buildings are well monitored with security systems, and the Drumheller RCMP had such a good response time, the current belief is that the sirens being close caused the thieves to just abandon the vehicle and ATM because they didn’t have time to do anything,” said Mountain View Credit Union's VP Operations Brosinksky. “Cudos to the RCMP on their response time.”
