Residents throughout the area are dealing with an afternoon without Internet.
The Mail has learned from John Shoff of Reality Bytes that an accident may have caused one of the main fibre optic lines to be severed between Calgary and Drumheller.
“Outages are pretty widespread. A fiber team from Calgary is already mobilized,” said Shoff. “Issues started at 12:20p.m. There is no ETA yet repairs but my guess is it will be several hours.”
Reality Bytes has all of their technicians standing by ready to ensure their internet network is up as soon as their service is restored.
Netago posted on its Twitter feed that there is an Axia outage between Drumheller and Calgary causing an internet blackout for its entire network. Reports are that Xplornet has over 4,000 customers down and Aerial Internet is down. Shaw customers have also been affected.
