The weather was perfect over the Heritage long weekend (August 1-3) and the riders made the most of it when the Drumheller Off Road Vehicle Association (DORVA) hosted the MX Alberta Motorsports Association Championship series.

The event took place near the stampede grounds and there were about 260 entries into the race.

Casey Christensen, with DORVA said it was an “excellent weekend. There was lots of hot weather and things went really well.”

DORVA, which is celebrating its 25th year, brought a band from Airdrie who set up a stage and performed on Saturday night as part of the festivities.

“It was a great event. Drumheller is classified as one of the most favourite tracks in Alberta actually for a lot of riders. (It is) because of the uniqueness and the organization and the landscape and the (natural flowing) topography of the facility and of the track layout,” Christensen told the mail

He mentioned that the closeness to town is a huge plus for Drumheller as well.

“A lot of motor crossers that come to our event really enjoy coming and they stay here and start their summer holidays after racing,” he said.

Christensen said the youngest racer category saw entries from four to six years old and the vet junior and vet master classes had entries of 40 years and older.
