Rosebud Lions are hitting the road to support the community.

This Saturday they are hosting a unique event to support the work that is done for the communities, their first car Rally. All ages makes and models are welcome, the goal is to have fun.

“We’re hoping to spark some new interest to get people involved,” said Pat Murphy of the Rosebud Lions. “It’s a little bit of a scavenger hunt. You have to follow directions and - spot things.”

He said the route should take about three hours and take in all kinds of the beautiful views of the area that many residents could rediscover for a second time.

“We are doing a circuit route through Drumheller, so people get to see Horse Thief Canyon, Horse Shoe Canyon, the Bleriot Ferry.  Things that are all around that we might take for granted,” he said. “They have to spot things along the way and take notice of grain elevators or signs and other attractions.”

The day begins with brunch at 11 a.m. at the Rosebud Memorial Hall before they head out on route at about 1 p.m.

The circuit takes them back to the hall where there will be dinner, entertainment and a silent auction. All of the proceeds from the rally go to community endeavours the Club undertakes.

“We would love to get kids involved, there’s lots of stuff to do along the way. We wanted to be family oriented,” said Murphy. “It’s not a race so there are no points for going fast, it’s just for a nice drive around the valley.

Tickets are available from any Lions Club member. For more information, contact Murphy at 403-820-4251.
