A civilian teacher at the Drumheller Institution received non-life threatening injuries after being stabbed three times.
At 9:30 a.m. RCMP were called to the Drumheller Institution following a report of a stabbing Thursday morning, December 19. Investigation determined an inmate assaulted one of the teachers with a stabbing instrument while in the school classroom.
The teacher was transported to the Drumheller Health Centre to be treated for two stab wounds to the head and one to the neck. The teacher was treated and released.
The inmate identified in the investigation was taken into secure custody and charges are expected upon completion of this investigation. Names of the inmate or teacher are not being released at this time, according to RCMP.
