Checkstop yields marijuana bust

Drumheller RCMP have made another big drug bust in town.
On December 7, at 8:55 p.m., RCMP stopped a vehicle at a checkstop. The officer detected a strong smell of marijuana emanating from the vehicle. The driver was arrested and the vehicle searched.
The search resulted in the seizure of 180 grams of marijuana and $5,565. The money was seized as the proceeds of crime.
RCMP have charged 25 year-old Michael D. Benci with possession of marijuana for the purpose of trafficking and possession of proceeds of crime.
Benci was released from custody on cash bail and is scheduled to appear in the Drumheller provincial court on Friday, December 13.
