Hesketh-Orkney 4-H Club Ready for Adventures

The Hesketh-Orkney Club held its organizational meeting on October 25, 2013.
We started off this year with Lisa Paget as our leader. Our assistant leaders are Nick Best and Jody Wacowich. We also held elections for President - Mckenzie Paget, Vice President - Jace Paget, Secretary - Kealy Roes, Treasurer - Lisa VanDeRyse, Historian - Braden Best, Club Reporter - Brynnleigh Lohner and District Representative - Lisa VanDeRyse.

New for our club this year, is the outdoor adventures project. Jody Wacowich will be leading the project and we will be doing activities like: hiking, archery, first aid, fire building and geocaching.
We had our weigh in day on November 11. We weighed 1 heifer and 8 steers and then for fun we weighed the group (we weighed 730 lbs!). Our leader also showed us how to tie a slip knot, so we would know how to do it when we start working with the animals.  Afterwards we had an outdoors activity session on proper clothing for outdoor activities and how to layer clothes.
Events coming up for the club include: 100 years of 4-H celebration, Awards Banquet, and Christmas party (where we will be learning archery).
Thank you to the Carbon Ag Society for letting us use the Curling Rink for our meetings this year.
