Carbon Centennial brings community together

Buzzing with anticipation, the Village of Carbon readies for their Centennial celebrations, happening from August 9-12.

In the works for about two years, volunteers and organizers have certainly logged many hours into putting on a mix of entertainment to interest all ages.

“Don’t get me wrong, there were some that thought cake and coffee would be enough to celebrate Carbon’s 100 years. I truly disagreed. Carbon is a very active fun community, this is why we need to celebrate,” said Donna Hay, chairman of the Carbon Hall Board.

Including everything from a traditional Stampede breakfast to a hypnotist, Carbon’s Centennial weekend is sure to have something for everyone.

“One of the highlights for me, will be the two day music festival,” said Hay.

The All-Star Centennial Stage will begin rocking on Friday afternoon, and will wrap up Saturday night with Canadian country music artist Aaron Lines.

Hay said the weekend will be a great chance to see old friends who live in the village or are returning for the Centennial.

“We just want to celebrate Carbon and everything and everyone she has given us in the past, and will be in the future,” said Hay.
