Race fans might have to wait a little longer to see the breakneck excitement of IMCA racing, as this weekend is a washout.
The Raptor Run, featuring the IMCA Stock cars and trucks and Modified cars were slated to go Saturday, June 30 and Sunday, July 1 at Dinosaur Downs. However, Tuesday night’s downpour effectively sunk any hopes of racing this weekend.
“It is postponed,” said Drumheller Stampede an Ag Society president Mike Hansen. “We don’t have a make up date yet.”
Parts of the track were literally underwater following the rainstorm and Hansen said they would not be able to dry out the track in time for the races.
It could be tough to find a new date to make up the Raptor Run. The IMCA’s 2012 schedule is chock full and has races scheduled into mid September.
This doesn’t mean there won’t be races in Drumheller this summer. Tentative IMCA race dates in Drumheller are on August 18 and 19 and September 8 and 9.
