A celebration of gifts

For the past 13 years, The Canadian Badlands Performing Arts Shool has teamed up with St. Anthony’s to allow students to take part in the Passion Play’s productions throughout the summer.

“This is a venue in which kids coming with that creative mind set have a chance to celebrate their gifts,” said Tom Stolz, who has been working with this project for quite some time.

It gives students a chance to develop their singing, dancing, and acting skills and earn 10 high school credits for “Advanced Acting,” and have fun while doing so.

“It’s very hands on. Not much like school at all,” said Stolz.

He said they average around 50 students per year taking in the Performing Arts School. However, he did mention the number of local students was fairly low, having three students from Drumheller at the most throughout the years.

“We’ve got a treasure in our backyard. More local students should take advantage of that,” Stolz said.

Students will be given the opportunity to perform various roles in the extraordinary Canadian Badlands Passion Play, and also take the stage in a talent show and gala performance.

Registration starts on July 3, at St. Anthony’s School, beginning at 6 p.m. For more information and details on The Canadian Badlands Performing Arts School go to www.cbsummerschool.com.
