The time has rolled around again to begin preparations for the annual Christmas Cantata, sponsored by the Bethany Lutheran Church of Morrin. This will be the fifth consecutive year for this cantata, directed by Becky Neuman. Every year the cantata has grown and improved, and has become one of the highlights of the Christmas season.
This year is certainly no exception. The cantata is titled “I Hear the Prophet Callin” by Pepper Choplin. The timeless story of Christ’s birth is told in the traditional narration that we all know and love, and the music is refreshingly different with arrangements that resonate with traditional folk qualities, inspired by the Appalachian styles.
Becky is looking for anyone who likes to sing and be a part of this journey to Christmas. All voices are needed, and she would love to see more men joining in to add the depth of the choral sounds. Rehearsals will be on Monday evenings at the Bethany Lutheran Church in Morrin, from 7:00 to 9:00. Extra rehearsals will be added in December, and performances will take place Dec. 15-18.
