Terry Fox run Sunday

For three decades, Canadians, and people all over the world have continued the race to find a cure for cancer, started on a highway in Newfoundland by a young determined Terry Fox.

While his own journey was halted by the progress of his own cancer, thousands have pledged to bike, walk or run in the annual Terry Fox Run.
This year’s run is on Sunday, September 18, starting at Midland Hall. Organizer Sharel Shoff is hoping for a strong turnout. Entry forms are available at a number of businesses throughout town to join in the annual run.
Typically, there is a strong turnout for the event, bolstered by Cindy Gerodo’s students, who are often on the course for the community run.
The Terry Fox Run commences at 9 a.m. with registration at Midland Hall. After the event participants return to Midland Hall where the Drumheller Elks Club continue their support for the walk with lunch.
Registration forms are available at IGA, Royal Bank, Gus’ Corner Restaurant, and Reality Bytes. Participants are also able to register online.
Shoff said they could always use volunteers to help the event run smoothly. For more information, contact Shoff at 403-820-1644. She has also created an event page on Facebook.
