Fundraising exceeds goal for Asthma Society

This past Sunday Mitchell Dawson’s memory was honoured by a run/walk to promote the awareness for asthma.

Mitchell Dawson suddenly passed away last August from a severe asthma attack at the age of 15 years.
The event was organized by Mitchell’s best friend Cody Bryant and Mitchell’s mom Lindy Dawson, with a goal of raising money for the Asthma Society of Canada.
The event was held at Drumheller Valley Secondary School and approximately 65 people from all ages participated.
Family members and friends volunteered by providing their help where needed.
“Our goal was $700 and I can’t believe we have raised $4600 and are still receiving donations,” Cody Bryant told The Mail.
Marlin Travel hosted a hotdog barbecue for the event on August 26 with the proceeds of $480 going to the Asthma Society.
Bryant said, “I was shocked how much the barbecue had raised, it was so great.
“If we decide to do it again next year and make it an annual event, I would do everything the same way as this year,” commented Cody.
“Its very nice to see people really do care,” he said.
