Drumheller man dies in motorcycle crash

A Drumheller man succumbed to his injuries at the scene of a motorcycle accident near Okotoks last Sunday.     At approximately 6:30 pm, on July 3, Okotoks RCMP responded to a call of a motor vehicle collision at the intersection of Highway 2 and 338 Avenue, which is just north of the Aldersyde overpass.
A 2002 Acura Type S sedan was attempting to cross Highway 2 eastbound.  Initial investigation shows that the driver came to a complete stop at the intersection, and allowed southbound traffic on Highway 2 to clear.  As the driver approached the meridian, he failed to notice a northbound motorcycle.
The motorcycle struck the side of the sedan, as the vehicle crossed the motorcycle’s path.
Neither the driver of the car nor his passenger was injured. The motorcycle operator, 33-year-old Brad Wilson of Drumheller, was pronounced dead at the scene.
With the assistance of highway maintenance contractor  Volker Steven, northbound traffic on Highway 2 was restricted to one lane for approximately four hours to allow a Collision Reconstructionist to investigate the scene.
The RCMP is appreciative to  drivers for their patience  while the incident was investigated.  A number of witnesses to the collision remained on scene to provide statements to the investigators.
This collision is still under investigation and the Okotoks RCMP are asking anyone who may have witnessed the collision to contact police. At this time, neither alcohol nor speed appear to be factors in the collision.
