A seriously challenging obstacle course will be setting up shop in Drumheller to hold a two day event in early fall.
The Tough Mudder event is scheduled to descend on the area and run September 6 and 7 of this year.
The obstacle course will be using the Stampede Grounds, Drumheller Off-road Vehicle Association Track and some private land for their 10 - 12 mile (18 - 20 km) obstacle course.
The Festival Society and Travel Drumheller will be managing the project.
Chris Curtis from Travel Drumheller said the town will see some positive effects before and after the event.
“...they will be putting not just money into infrastructure, and money into the event itself, but they’ll be putting a lot of money into marketing, which will have a big draw on either side of the actual event.”
“Because they would be marketing an event that would be happening in Drumheller, and they’ll be marketing it for an extended period of time.”
Tough Mudder describes their events on their website as “obstacle course challenges designed to test your all-around strength, stamina, mental grit and camaraderie.”
