Drumheller RCMP on scene at a serious motor vehicle collision - Update Highway 9 reopened for traffic

Drumheller, Alta – Drumheller RCMP are advising that Highway 9 near highway 836 has been re opened for regular traffic.

On Nov. 14, 2024 shortly after 7:00 a.m., Drumheller RCMP with the assistance of 3 local Fire departments and EMS responded to a report of a head on collision at that location. Upon arrival officers began an investigation into the collision which involved a detached semi tractor truck and a sedan. The incident resulted in the shut down of the highway for several hours as the RCMP collision analyst team facilitated their investigation.

The sole occupant of the sedan, a male from Carbon Alta. was declared deceased at the scene. Two occupants from the semi-truck were transported to hospital for the treatment of serious but non-life-threatening injuries. The driver of the semi truck suffered minor injuries and was treated and released on scene. The circumstances of the collision reman under investigation.
