The Dynos high school junior varsity team finished an exciting year with a bronze medal win at their South Central Zones this weekend in Three Hills.

“We had a strong team,” says head coach Gail Campbell, “they improved a ton over the years.”
With their chances of heading into the quarter-finals based on a sudden-death match against Oyen, the Dynos won and moved on to play the Three Hills Royals. Losing to the Royals, the team moved on to fight for the bronze medal match and won both games 25-18 and 25-16 against the Black Diamond Drillers to earn third place.
Ten teams attended the South Central Zones, with first, second, and third places all being won by teams in the Golden Hills School Division (Three Hills, Acme, and Drumheller).
This bronze win is added ont their strong season of winning first place in the Drillers invitational tournament on November 5 and 6.
“They’ll be a real good feeder team for the senior high girls next year,” says Campbell.  “They have lots of potential.”
Defence had been a challenge for the team throughout the year, with strong natural born hitters and servers.
By the end of the tournament, Campbell says, other coaches were commending the girls on their defensive play.
“I’m very proud of them, they did awesome.”
