The Drumheller Dragons had a nailbiter of a weekend at home, taking two close losses– one shootout and one overtime.

Hosting the second place holders in the southern division Camrose Kodiaks on Friday, the Dragons took the lead early but lost their fire in period three.
With Dragon Dylan Schellenberg opening the scoring halfway through the first, the Kodiaks answered on the powerplay to make it 1-1 going into the second shift.
Piling on three goals, the second period saw Dragons Sean Sanford scoring unassisted, as well as Ryan Wiest finding the net from Luke Challier and Clayton Jardine. Camrose found the back of the net, just before Josh McEwan answered with a goal with a pass from Keenan Martens and Josh Kluck, bringing the Dragon’s lead to 4-2 heading into the third period.
The Dragons allowed Camrose to tie it up with two goals from the Kodiaks at the 14:34  (PP) and 15:58 marks.
With no team sinking one between the posts in overtime, the team went into shootout mode.
The Kodiaks scored on two of three chances, with Brendan Algeo being the only one to score, seeing the Kodiaks take the win 5-4.
Drumheller goalie Cole Cheveldave had an  exceptional game, facing 52 shots throughout the entire game – earning the home star.
The following night, Saturday, the Dragons took an overtime loss from the Calgary Mustangs, 3-2.
Again the Dragons took the momentum early, with a goal from Evan Warner assisted by Ryan Bloom and David Stener.  The Mustangs answered back within minutes of hitting the ice for their second period.
Drumheller’s top scorer Robert Geddes made it 2-1 in the third period, but Mustangs sniper Simon Skrudland notched the equalizer which pushed the game into overtime.
Calgary scored at the 4:55 mark into the extended play.
The Dragons earned two points over the weekend, seeing them sit sixth in the southern standings with just 24 points.
Drumheller will have yet another week long break from on-ice action, until they host the Okotoks Oilers on Friday, November 26. The Oilers buried the Dragons 11-1, their worst game in franchise history, on November 14.
The Oilers currently sit at the top spot in the south division, and third overall.
After Friday’s match, the Dragons will hit the road in Spruce Grove on November 27, and again November 30 where they look to take on the Calgary Canucks.
Former Dragon Scott Kenedy earned the Jeff Hendricks Scholarship on Saturday. Robert Geddes accepted it in his place.
