Like the Russian town of Anatevka in Fiddler on the Roof, Rosebud is a community with strong support from its people and businesses.

Continuing with this tradition of support, Rosebud Theatre is partnering with the Rosebud Fire Association in an effort to raise money for a new fire hall. On the evening of Wednesday, July 30, 2008, Rosebud Theatre is adding a special Fiddler on the Roof performance with all proceeds going directly to the Rosebud Fire Hall.

“Rosebud is growing and that means essential services like the fire association are growing too,” notes Bob Davis, Rosebud Theatre Executive Director.

“Like many rural communities, Rosebud relies on the commitment of volunteer fire fighters, who, in turn, rely on proper equipment and facilities to do their job. A new fire hall will go a long way to meet the needs of the Rosebud Fire Association for years to come. To help, Rosebud Theatre staff and actors will volunteer to put on one evening performance of our biggest show ever – Fiddler on the Roof. We hope the community will come out for a great show and support an important cause.”

The Rosebud Fire Association is a volunteer organization dedicated to providing fire suppression and emergency response to residents of the Rosebud region in Wheatland County. Just recently, the Akokiniskway Gallery and its exhibitors found out how important these volunteers are to the community when the building was struck by lightning, requiring emergency response from the fire association.

The goal of the new fire hall is to provide more space to house required vehicles, store necessary equipment, and to provide training space for volunteers. Currently, the fire hall has access to $145,000 the estimated $220,000 project cost, needing only $75,000 more to begin construction. With the support of patrons at this event the Rosebud Fire Association should be well on their way to accomplishing their goals.

If you would like to donate, the Rosebud Fire Association welcomes monetary donations that can be sent to the Rosebud Fire Association, Box 602 Rosebud, Alberta, T0J 2T0. Material donations such as lumber, concrete, drywall, asphalt, etc. are also welcome.

Tickets for this July 30 event are $75/person and can be purchased through the Rosebud Theatre Box Office at 1-800-267-7553. All proceeds raised from this event go directly to the association to support the construction of a new Rosebud Firehall.
