"Fiddler on the Roof" sets new record for Rosebud Theatre

In its silver anniversary season of celebrating “Big Stories in Little Places,” Rosebud Theatre has set a new standard with its summer production of Fiddler on the Roof.

For 93 days (May 30 - August 30), the arts community of Rosebud entertained 20,000 guests in 91 shows, for its largest stage production ever at the Rosebud Opera House.

Rosebud Theatre Executive Director Bob Davis was quick to acknowledge that ticket sales for Fiddler on the Roof began a record pace shortly after the show was announced.

“To accommodate the demand, we added seats to our newly renovated Opera House and built a new outdoor patio adjacent to the Mercantile Dining Room. We also hand made every costume ‘from the roof down’, cast the most number of actors, and invested more technical labour than any production in our history.”

“When this show started, we were hopeful for a good response,” says Davis. “We’ve been literally blown away by the interest and response from the 20,000 people who have bought Fiddler tickets – that’s 3,000 more than our previous biggest summer show in 2006. Being sold out of virtually every show has challenged us to be as efficient as we can to ensure that patrons continue to receive the best total entertainment experience possible.”

“We could not be happier with this play,” explains Davis. “There are so many new people who have experienced our heart-felt, passionate brand of theatre this summer.”

The success of Fiddler on the Roof is testimony to a beloved musical, strong media support and partnerships, and a customer base that has grown with us over the past 25 years. Fiddler on the Roof is a big part of our anniversary season, but it’s important to note that the party isn’t over. We still have two more great shows to celebrate our 25th birthday.”

Rosebud Theatre’s next show, Damien by Aldyth Morris, plays September 5 to October 25. Book your tickets early to ensure your seats by calling the Rosebud Theatre Box Office at 1-800-267-7553.
