The Dragons are solidly in fourth place in the AJHL Viterra South Divison as they head into the final week of the regular season.
Fans are getting ready for playoff action, and there has been no pause in the competitiveness of play as teams jockey for position. More than 900 came out last Friday, February 24 to watch the Dragons take on the Canmore Eagles.
After a scoreless first period, Vann Yuhas put the Dragons on the scoreboard on the powerplay, assisted by Adrian Easton. Canmore answered back six minutes later to end the second period in a tie.
It was a game decided on special teams and Canmore scored two powerplay goals to go up 3-1. With less than two minutes left, Adam Raesler scored on the powerplay to bring it closer, and despite pressure down the stretch, that was all the Dragons could muster, falling 3-2.
On Saturday night, February 25, the Dragons were in Blackfalds to take on the Bulldogs, who have jumped right up into second place in the south. It was a challenging game as the Bulldogs scored first and never looked back. They added two more in the second period and went on to a 3-0 win.
This Tuesday, February 28, the Dragons were in Calgary to take on the Canucks. Results were not available at press time. On Friday, they are in Okotoks to take on the Oilers, and wrap up the regular season on Saturday, March 4, at home versus the Oilers.
