Senior Titans mired in penalties versus Airdrie

IMG 5974

The Titans were locked in a defensive battle with George McDougall of Airdrie, but came up short Wednesday night.
The Titans hosted the Mustangs under the lights and in what seems to be a curse for the team, they stumbled out on offense with two fumbles in the first half, found themselves behind the eight ball.
Coach Ken Fournier said the defense, while not stellar, held, and they were able to keep the Mustangs to just two touchdowns. The offense however, was only able to muster two points, and the one burden they carried was penalties.
The team was able to march the ball down the field on the ground and had some pass completions, but penalties kept marching them back. Fournier said penalties cost the team an estimated 130 yards.
“Our net offensive yards was probably less than 100, and it was all mental errors,” he said.
    The final score was 14-2.
The Titans hope to get back in the winning column this Saturday when they head to Pincher Creek.
“Pincher Creek hasn’t put up a lot of points this season, but they do play some opponents they face year in and year out, so I wouldn’t be surprised if they are a little bit of a snake in the weeds,” said Fournier.
