Junior Dinos volleyballers gain experience

The Junior High Boys DCHS Dinos gained much experience at a tournament this weekend, finishing with a win against Canmore on the final day.
The win should equal momentum for the team in the coming week.
“They did well,” said coach Audrey DeBona, “they only got the one win but they gained a lot of experience.
The Dinos will look to take on the Prairie Bible Institute Thursday night at home.

Sabres volleyball shows improvement at first tourney

The St. Anthony’s Sabres senior girls volleyball season was off to a flying start at the Christ the Redeemer Divisional Tournament last weekend.
The team placed fourth at the tourney playing against some of the largest schools in the division. More important than where they placed is how much they improved, said head coach Heather Colberg.
“The girls technically improved from the morning to afternoon by 100 per cent,” said Colberg. “I cannot be more proud of what they accomplished.”
She says her focus is on improving the team’s skills as they head into the season.
This year’s Sabres are a young team with only three Grade 12 players on the squad. While they may lack some experience, Colberg said they are all good athletes and are responsive to coaching, and it shows in their improvement.
“We have lots of development to do,” said Colberg. “They are a great group of girls, and they are like sponges, they want to learn, it’s going to be a great season.”
The team opens it league play on September 29 on the road against Delia.
“I’m really excited on what they will do this year,” said Colberg.
