Clean sweep for novice Raptors home tourney

  The Novice T3 Raptors made a clean sweep at the tournament they hosted.
    The Raptors held a six team tournament in Morrin on February 6 and 7. Teams at the tournament included Drumheller, Indus, Rockyford, Endmoor, Calgary and Carstairs
    The Novice Tier 6 players had a really good weekend winning all three games. They beat  Rockyford 7-3, Indus 5-0, and Calgary 12-0.


Dynos handed first loss of the season

     The DCHS Dynos senior boys basketball team’s dominating year continues, although it was handed its first loss of the season.
    Despite this, they regrouped and  won the consolation  trophy at a tournament in Strathmore.
    On February 12 and 13 the DCHS senior boys basketball team travelled to Strathmore to compete in  the Spartan Invitational.
    On Friday night the Dynos went up against the Number 2 ranked team in 3A basketball, Crescent Heights High School from Medicine Hat. The Dynos lost 67 to 64 due to some poor free throw shooting going down the stretch and some untimely turnovers.
    On Saturday the team rebounded, and defeated George McDougall from Airdrie 97 to 74, despite being down 15 points in the second quarter.
     In the consolation final the Dynos went up against West Central from Rocky Mountain House and easily defeated them 82 to 44.

Aquadinnies improve times in Okotoks

 Seven members of the Drumheller Aquadinnies competed at the Black and Blue meet in Okotoks February 6th and 7th. Above: Brock Hoel, 8, swam several best times and achieved his first three "B" times. Brooklyn Davies, 11, swam several improved times and achieved an "A" time in the 100m Freestyle. Janae Hoel, 10, swam several improved times and achieved "A" times in the 100m and 200m Freestyle. Below: Thirteen year old Alan Lister swam several improved times and has "B" times in all of his events. Sophia McDonald, 13, made an exceptional showing, improving several times and improving her 200m Breaststroke by four seconds. Austin Knibb, 14, swam the 400m IM and 200m Breaststroke for the first time, achieving "B" times in both. Parker Knibb, 12, (seated) swam "B" times in all of his events. Brock, Alan, Sophia, and Parker will be attending the Age Groups Trials in Sherwood Park February 26 - 28. Brooklyn, Janae, and Austin have qualified for Provincials. That competition will be held in Edmonton March 5 - 7.
