Sabres host Invitational tournament

The St. Anthony’s senior boys Sabres basketball team are hoping  to repeat as champions at their home tournament this Friday and Saturday.
St. Anthony’s is hosting the sixth annual Senior Sabres Invitational on January 8 and 9. This is an eight-team tournament that includes Rosemary, Cremona, Duchess, Olds  Koinonia, Rundle Academy from Calgary, County Central from Vulcan and Our Lady of the Snows from Canmore.
Coach Gavin Makse expects it will be a competitive tournament with well matched teams. One team to look out for he says is Rundle College from Calgary. In the first round of the 2009-2010 provincial  rankings, Rundle received an honourable mention at the 1A level.
The Sabres are first up this Friday, January 8 playing the  opener at noon against Canmore’s Our Lady of the Snows. If they are successful  they will take the court on  Saturday at 10:45 a.m.
If they are defeated  they play Friday night at 7 p.m.
The Sabres are defending champions of the tournament
