Chance to join Dragons’ team of volunteers
A volunteer organizational meeting is set for August 18. This is for past volunteers, or anyone interested in joining the Drumheller Dragons’ team of volunteers to get ready for the season.
In previous seasons, the Dragons’ crew of volunteers have been recognized by the league for their professionalism and dedication. Volunteer coordinator Barry Pozzo says there are a number of positions available to volunteer for the Dragons.
While he says there are opportunities to volunteer as front end personnel such as ticket sellers and takers, as well as 50/50 and program sellers. They are also looking for security personnel as well as off-ice officials to working the score and timekeepers box, as well as goal judges and penalty box attendants.
He says there are many benefits to volunteering and helping to put the quality hockey product the Dragons deliver on the ice. While working, volunteers are able to watch the games. There are also various events and functions for volunteers, as well as recognition from the team through the Volunteer of The Year award.
There is also a great chance to make friends and learn more about how the team operates.
Pozzo says the new management of the team is very supportive of the volunteers.
The meeting goes on Tuesday, August 18 at 6 p.m. in the upstairs lounge area of the Drumheller Memorial Arena.
