Bantam Raptors poised for provincials

IMG 3825

It is going to be a busy week for the Drumheller Bantam Raptors and volunteers as they host provincials.
Eight teams will be participating at the Bantam C Provincial Championships, including the host Drumheller Western Chev/Boston Pizza Bantam Raptors. The teams will be vying for a spot in the gold medal final on Sunday, and a chance to win the provincial crown.
The tournament starts on March 15 and continues through Sunday, March 18. Games will be played at the Drumheller Memorial Arena. Organizers are busy preparing for the event.
The tournament kicks off with the Opening Ceremonies on Thursday, March 15, and right after the hometown Raptors will be taking on New Serepta in pool play at 7:30 p.m.
Pool play continues until Saturday, March 17, and the top four teams qualify for the semi-finals, which will be held Sunday at 8:00 a.m. and 10:30 a.m.  The gold medal game is scheduled for 4 p.m.
Karie Drouin says the community has shown great support with many individuals and businesses supporting the tournament. The Peewee teams are also supporting the  Raptors by volunteering to help with the tournament.
The local organizing crew has put together a raffle table and is hosting a social for the tournament participants.
The Raptors are also slated to play on Friday, March 16 at 2 p.m. and then Saturday, March 17 at 2 p.m. The Raptors, while they have a spot in the tournament as hosts, have chosen to compete for a spot and have earned their way into the provincials.
