The Dragons have signed a forward out of the American U-16 Elite League it was announced Friday, penning 16-year-old Alberta native Brayden Nicholetts for the upcoming season.
“Brayden came to our spring camp two years ago, and I have seen great improvement in him over the last two season,” said head coach Brain Curran. “He’s a feisty player with excellent offensive skills that I look forward to working with him on this year.”
Nicholetts, a 5’11, 170-lbs forward Spruce Grove native, played for the Colorado Thunderbirds of the U-16 Minor Midget team last year, posting 11 goals and 16 assists in only 32 games.
Nicholetts says the Dragons are the team he wants to play for.
“Drumheller is a great fit for me. I like the philosophy of hard work and being tough to play against every night. I think the coaches are very experienced and will help me improve,” he said.
The Dragon first home exhibition game is slated for September 9 against Lloydminister.
