The Drumheller Hi-Way 9 Vipers U12 “C” Vipers rolled right through their double header against the Airdrie Aces on Sunday afternoon, and are looking to make a a run at provincials next month.

The Vipers crushed the Aces 20-8 in their first game of the series and had a tighter second game against Airdrie, but came out on top at 6-4.

“It should be a good run to provincials,” said coach Dale Telford. “They’re playing as a team, with good catching, fielding, and their batting keeps getting better.”

Pitching standouts are Calon, Heptonstall, and Wright, and the team is powered by some strong hitting by Boyko and Christensen.

The Airdrie Aces are a good caliber team and the Vipers’ double win over them this weekend provides proof that the girls will fare well in Softball Alberta provincials on July 15 to 17 in Castor.

This team is an amalgamation of some of the top players from both the Drumheller U12 Vipers and Comets in the “C” division.

Before heading to provincials, the team will be participating in a tournament in Trochu on July 10.
