The Drumheller Dragons would like to congratulate Kenton Levesque on his recent commitment to SAIT for the 2012-13 season.
Levesque, a 1991-born, 5’9”, 180 pound forward from Ponoka, Alberta, just finished his third season with the Dragons. This past season he tallied 8 goals and 7 assists for 15 points, along with 164 penalty minutes, in 49 games played for Drumheller.
While Levesque was with the Dragons in 2010-11 he was awarded the Hardest Working Dragon Award and the Jeff Hendricks Memorial Scholarship. In 2011-12 he again was awarded the Hardest Working Dragon.
Prior to joining the Dragons, Levesque played as a 17-year old for the Leduc Midget AAA Oil Kings.
Levesque joins former Dragons Teammates, Andy Williams (2009-10), as well as Dragons alumni Garrett Girard, Robbie Nocera, and Derek Werenka as players who have moved from the Drumheller program to the ACAC SAIT Trojans.
“I would like to thank some of my previous coaches, Dan Price and Barry Wolff, also Rod Knelsen, the Christianson Family, all the Dragons supporters and the rest of the organization. I would like to say a special Thank You to my billet, Arlene Turner,” said Levesque. “Without all of these supporters this would not have been possible. I’m very excited about what the future has to offer me with furthering my hockey career and my academics within the SAIT program.”
“Kenton is an extremely versatile player who is effective both as a defenceman and as a forward. He skates extremely well and has a powerful shot. Offensively, he is very good in tight spots and many of his goals come from within 3 feet of the net,” said Dragons Education Director Dave Woods.
“Perhaps his greatest assets and most admirable qualities, though, are the courage and utter relentlessness with which he plays the game. His tenacity, physicality and eagerness to compete are unrivaled anywhere in our league, and his willingness and ability to play through pain are astounding. He is an excellent leader in the room and is respected greatly by his teammates and coaches. Kenton was always very quick to volunteer for any community events for the Dragons, thus making him an outstanding representative for the Dragons and Jr. Hockey in Drumheller. These attributes will serve him well as a player in the ACAC and will provide a strong foundation from which he can grow into an excellent addition to the SAIT hockey program.”
