Senior boys Dynos host first tourney at new gym

After six years, the senior boys Dynos basketball team will be hosting a home tournament, and organizers have made sure there will be some great basketball this weekend at DVSS.
This is also the first tournament in the school’s new gymnasium and there will be no slouches at the competition.
“I think there will be some very good games, as four of the teams in the tournament are ranked,” said Coach Jeff Messom.
Teams include Hanna, John Maland High of Devon, and Oyen. Also at the tournament are Holy Cross Collegiate, which is ranked tenth in the province, and Prairie Christian Academy, which is ranked sixth. The Dynos are holding strong to a number 2 ranking at the 2A level.  Acme will also be there and currently holds the top spot at the 1A level.
“It will also give us a chance to see some of our competition in our zone as six of the teams in the tournament are from the South Central,” said Messom.
The Dynos first take the court at 8 p.m. Friday night to take on Oyen. If successful, they play at 1:15 p.m. on Saturday. The championship game is Saturday night at 8:15.
