The bantam Titans will be facing Olds this Saturday for a chance to play at provincials.
The bantam team had a strong season; however, the league competition was fierce and they faced Lindsay Thurber Comprehensive High School in the first round of playoffs last weekend in Red Deer.
The bantams were overmatched, but played well according to coach Paul Redmond.
Lindsay Thurber went up by three touchdowns in the first five minutes, and the Titians were playing catch-up for the rest of the game.
Redmond said the Titans were able to move the ball on offense and earned about 13 first downs, but were not able to find the goal.
On defense, the Titans were able to shut down Lindsay Thurber’s running game, forcing them to pass for most of the second half. Despite these efforts the Red Deer school ran away with a 49-0 victory.
This puts the Titans in the consolation round to face Olds. While the Olds team beat the Titans in their last game by about 26 points, Redmond expects this game will be much closer.
The Titans are tackling better than before and their defense is strong.
