It will be sort of a homecoming for Andrea Price as she steps back onto the volleyball court.
This season it will be at the University of Calgary.
“It’s a good opportunity that I am happy to have, and be a part of it,” Price told The Mail.
She is very familiar with University of Calgary program, and the head coach Natalie Schwartz.
“Natalie, she was my club coach in U18, my head coach in U17 and she has been a member of the coaching staff for when I played for Team Alberta and for the Canada Games when I played U21,” she said. “It is nice to have someone I am familiar with.”
Because Price played for three years across town at Mount Royal, she only has two years of eligibility left. Currently she is enrolled in arts, but is planning on going into social work.
With the University of Calgary, she will be playing in the Canadian Interuniversity Sport (CIS), which will bring more competition.
“It is a completely different league, there will be a lot of physical players in it for sure,” said Price. “I feel like I am ready.”
While she still has two years left in her university career, there are opportunities to play professionally in Europe when she is complete.
