Royals lose two in league finals, look to provincials

The Peewee Royals lost both of their playoff games last Thursday and Friday and have been eliminated from the Calgary Minor Softball league finals.

They dropped what turned out to be an exciting game on Friday against Strathmore, a team they hadn’t beaten all season, 17-11.
“We had it, then it just fell apart,” said manager Melissa Janzen, saying the girls tied the match up sending it into extra innings. “It was the best game, just so much excitement.”
During the 10th inning they fell apart defensively and allowed Strathmore to score eight runs.
They had a match against another Strathmore team on Monday night, playing down for provincials. If they brought out a win Monday they would be playing in the ‘D’ pool of provincials, increasing their chances of succeeding. Results were not available at press time.
