GIRARDI
Maria

February 24, 1927 - July 20, 2021

Maria Girardi of Drumheller, passed away peacefully with her family at her side, on July 20th, 2021 at the age of 94 in the Coalbanks Unit. Maria was born on February 24th, 1927 in Cussano di Zoppola, Italy to Regina and Guiseppe Barbarin.
In 1952, she immigrated to Canada. On July 6, she married our Dad, Joseph and together raised 3 daughters.
Although Mom did not work outside the home, she worked out of her home as a seamstress, creating many outfits and doing alterations. Mom’s hands were never idle, whether it was knitting, crocheting, love of baking or cooking up an Italian meal for her family. She loved her garden, but especially had a passion for her flowers and passed along her knowledge of plants to her family.
Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were her joy; she was always willing to share her many talents with them. The time spent interacting with her grandchildren inspired who they have become, because of her kind, compassionate and loving nature.
She was an active member of the Catholic Women’s League for 65 years. Her experiences volunteering at teas and helping with banquets was in keeping with her giving nature and she formed many lifelong friendships.
In October of 2010, her and Dad would make Sunshine Lodge their new home. In February 2020, due to illness, Mom moved to Coalbanks.
Maria is survived by 3 daughters, Rosemarie Girardi, Velma (Dan) Scott, Angie (Murray) Evans. Grandchildren: Andy (Stephanie) Doktorchik, Marriann Hammond, Lisa (Ryan) Tait, Trevor (Kayla) Scott, Lindsay Pollock (Jay), Christina (Cory) Harvey and Jordan Evans (Jess) as well as 15 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by one sister-in-law Lucia Girardi and 3 nephews, Valerio, Eddie and Angelo Girardi and their families of Toronto, Ontario.
Maria was predeceased by her husband Joseph, her parents Guiseppe and Regina Barbarin and her 4 brothers, Egidio, Giovanni, Reno and Joe.
Prayers for Maria will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 29th, 2021 at St. Anthony’s Roman Catholic Church, Drumheller, Ab. A funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, July 30th, 2021 at St. Anthony’s Roman Catholic Church with Father Fernando Genogaling officiating.
Donations in Maria’s memory may be made to the Alberta Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Catholic Women’s League.

PINTER
Chester James

June 21, 1932 - July 11, 2021

It is with great sorrow that the family of Chester (Geza) James Pinter announces his passing on July 11, 2021 at the age of 89. Chester passed away at the Foothills hospital in Calgary after a short fight following open heart by-pass surgery.
Chester was born in Drumheller on June 21, 1932 and spent his younger years in Rosedale, Alberta before moving to Drumheller. He obtained his Master Electrician Certificate from SAIT and eventually started Pinter & Campbell Electrical Contracting working throughout the valley and surrounding area. Rosedale was always home for Chester and he moved back to the family farm in 1972 where he stayed until his death.
Chester loved hunting and fishing and was a great innovator that could fix just about anything. People would come from far and wide to bring things for Chester to fix and he never turned anyone away. Chester was a lover of animals and the family always had pet dogs and cats.
In his later years Chester would spend his days fishing, building and fixing in his workshop, and visiting friends in long-term care being there for them until the end.
Chester is survived by his sons, David (Christine), Leslie and Jim (Janet), his grandson Karstien (Stephanie), great-grandchildren Grainger and Grace along with his long-time partner Joyce Lee and family. He was predeceased by his father Steve, mother Pearl, wife Annabelle (nee Carruthers) and daughter Shelly.
Thank you to all who have expressed sympathy to the family during this difficult time and also to the staff at the Drumheller Hospital and Foothills Hospital Unit 94 for their unselfish and tireless effort during Chester’s final days. Flowers are gratefully declined, instead donations in Chester’s name may be made to your local animal shelter.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date to be announced.

- July 3, 2021

Dale Alexander Armstrong, 58, of Nacmine, passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 3, 2021, at Red Deer Regional Hospital surrounded by family and friends. Dale will be greatly missed by daughter Katherine Armstrong (Brad Burgess) and granddaughter Victoria, and daughter Cassandra Armstrong and grandson Levi. He was predeceased by life partner Bonnie Hallett also of Nacmine. He leaves behind his two furry friends Joey and Maggie, which he loved dearly. He was also predeceased by Mother Susan Lennstrom of Drumheller and Father Robert Armstrong also from Drumheller. Dale loved and was loved by many close friends in and around Drumheller and spoke of them often. He was an outgoing, fun-loving person, always up for a good time.
Dale spent most of his life living in Drumheller and resided in the town of Bentley for many years.
Dale had many passions and hobbies including hunting, classic cars and trucks, and wheeling and dealing, however, he was a mechanic through and through. He was constantly working on his trucks and cars and could not wait to fully complete his 1959 Chevy truck that he was so proud of. He was always there to help anyone that he could, if they needed anything, he was there. Dale gained a passion for travel, Costa Rica was his choice destination, and was looking forward to his next adventure there.
At his request, there will be no funeral service, however, a celebration of life will be held in his honour this summer, including immediate family and friends at his home.
Any donations can be made to the Humane Society or the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
