Condolences to the family of Elsie Mabel Humphrey (Tario)

Elsie Humphrey

HUMPHREY (Tario)
Elsie Mabel

April 25, 2023

Elsie Mabel Humphrey (Tario) of Olds, AB, formerly of Drumheller and Delia passed away on April 25, 2023, at the age of 98. Elsie was predeceased by George, her devoted husband of 70 years in 2017.
She is survived by her children; Elaine and family, Ivan & Bev and family, Donnie & Donna and family, and Kevin & Wanda and family, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren as well as numerous nieces and nephews and their families.
Elsie was also predeceased by her parents, Lorne & Annie Tario, 2 sisters, Muriel and Harold, Doris and George, 2 brothers, Alvin and Marion and Earl and Wilma and 1 son-in-law, Clarence.
At the young age of 2, Elsie’s parents moved from Manitoba to Alberta, settling in the small hamlet of Michichi to farm and raise their family. In her late teenage years, Elsie met George Humphrey, the love of her life for over 70 years. Elsie and George married on December 7, 1946, and moved to Nacmine. In 1949 they moved to Delia and in 1952 she and George started farming. Elsie was very busy raising children and helping George with the farm. She enjoyed cooking, puzzling, crocheting, bingo and cards; and for years she was the newspaper correspondent for the Delia News in The Drumheller Mail and The Hanna Herald. When the phone rang with news, she always had a pen and paper ready to write about all the happenings.
In 1996, Elsie and George retired to Drumheller where they were always busy taking part in community activities and events as well as travelling all over the province to visit family and attend any sporting event there was where their grandchildren or great-grandchildren played, always cheering from the sideline.
There was nothing more important to Elsie than family, and in 2014 she and George moved to Olds to be closer to family; anytime the invitation to visit came, it was always taken. Elsie had a quiet personality and made friends wherever she went. Loved beyond measure, Elsie will be deeply missed by her family and the many friends who brightened her days.
Please join us to celebrate the life of this amazing lady, May 18th, 2023, at 1:30pm in the Cadet Hall, 5205 – 52nd Street, Olds, AB
