Stanley (Stan to his family and friends) Walter Sikora of Cambria, Alberta passed away suddenly on April 6, 2023 at the age of 72.

He was predeceased by his beloved parents (Stella and John) and his brother Joseph Sikora (Lethbridge).
After graduating from Drumheller Composite High School in 1969, Stan pursued higher education at the University of Calgary where he received his degree in Education in 1973. He taught in Cereal, Alberta in 1973 and in New Brigden, Alberta from 1974 to 1976, before returning to his hometown of Drumheller.
Soon after, he moved to Calgary. He obtained his “Journeyman Certificate in Carpentry”, and pursued a new career in construction. He worked with Stuart Olsen (Bennett and White), a Calgary construction company. In 1994 he returned to Drumheller (Cambria) to care for his mother and began his career at the Drumheller Penitentiary as an instructor in construction. Stan retired in 1998.
Stan travelled to Poland (homeland of his mother) and Czechoslovakia (homeland of his father) shortly after his retirement. He formed friendships with many cousins and remained in contact with them. Upon returning to Canada, he embraced his love for gardening, which brought him great joy. He delighted in delivering his high-quality produce to families, restaurants, and grocery stores in the Valley and made many new friends along the way. His beautiful produce was enjoyed by all.
Stan was a lifelong learner and in 2019 he received two certificates from Norquest College, “Setting and Maintaining Professional Boundaries for ESL Providers”, and a Certificate of Attendance for “Introduction to Culture and Communication”. These certificates enabled him to pursue a volunteer position using his ESL knowledge. Stan derived great satisfaction from helping people learn English and learning about new cultures. Stan was a cherished and valued member of his community and was recognized for his kindness, empathy, and willingness to help others. He had an infectious smile, a happy disposition, and enjoyed spending time with everyone. His big “Hello!” will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
