McPHEE, Robert Hamilton Wier

Robert McPhee passed away Jan. 21, 2011 at the Drumheller Health Centre after a lengthy illness at the age of 82. Left to mourn is his wife of 54 years Wanya; one sister, Mary (Mamie Bunce), Salmon Arm, B.C.; nephew Dale Bunce (Nancy), Calgary; two nieces, Sandra (Lynne), Calgary, and Donna McPhee (Albert) Huges of Calgary; and numerous great nieces and nephews. Robert was predeceased by his parents, Robert and Mary McPhee, and his brother Andrew. Bob lived and attended school in Rosedale. After school, Bob went to work for Wades Grocery Store and later at the Star Mine Store. It was here that Bob married Wanya Westeen, March 29, 1956, a schoolmate, friend and coworker. The couple moved to Lacombe to work and start their married life but returned shortly to Rosedale due to illness in the family. Bob worked for Subway Coal and Fish Lake Sand and Gravel as an accountant for several years. Bob and Wanya then owned and operated “Bob’s Superette” in Rosedale. Due to ill health, Bob sold the store and worked part time at the Drumheller Co-op Hardware Store until he retired in 1980. Bob was an avid gardener, spent many winters in Yuma, Arizona, the summers touring and camping. By special request, there will be no funeral or memorial service. As an expression of sympathy, memorial contributions can be made in Bob’s memory to : The Drumheller Health Centre, 351 9th Street NW, Drumheller, AB  T0J 0Y1.
