GUIMONT, Camille (Cam)
April 23, 1927 - September 20, 2010
It is with heartfelt sadness that we announce that Camille (Cam) Lawrence Guimont passed away peacefully, with his family by his side September 20, 2010 at the age of 83. Cam was a strong family man. He cherished his time spent with his brothers and sisters and was proud of his heritage. He was born in Grand Falls, N.B. in 1927 where he was the sixth of nine children. He lived in Sherbrooke, Quebec for some time before moving to Drumheller in the mid 1960s, where he met and married his wife Sandy (Yemen). They raised four children, Cathy, Andy, Michael and Cammie. Our dad owned and operated Cam’s News Ltd., a local favorite newsstand for over 30 years. He was a great businessman who enjoyed visiting the thousands of people he met from around the world, along with the people from Drumheller. They came to the store to buy snacks before going to the movies across the street or for their weekly magazine, checking their lottery tickets or just to buy a licorice and visit for hours. He enjoyed people and cared for them as well, whether giving them a carton of milk or bringing clothes to the store to give away, he always wanted to help those in need. Cam is survived by his wife Sandy Guimont, his daughter Cathy (Ron) Kure, son Michael Guimont, his son Cammie (Deanna) Guimont, his granddaughters Sheena, Sarah, Stacey, Brittney and Taylor, grandson Linden Guimont. Great-grandchildren Easton, Seth and Brooklynn. His brother Albert Guimont, sister AnneMarie Bilodeau, as well as many nieces, nephews and friends. Cam was a good man. He will live on in the hearts of family and friends. A funeral service was held on Saturday, September 25 at Courtney-Winters Funeral Chapel. Memorial donations can be made in memory of Cam to either your local food bank or the Canadian Diabetes Association.
