TRENTHAM, Margaret
March 4, 1927 - September 11, 2010

It is with deep sadness we announce the peaceful passing of our mother Margaret Trentham of Drumheller, formerly of Morrin, beloved wife of Albert Trentham, in the Drumheller Health Centre on September 11, 2010 at the age of 83 years. Margaret leaves to cherish her memory  her loving husband Albert of 41 years, her children Gerald Braunberger (Gwen), Marion Pierce, Marjorie McNeill (Ron), Dave Trentham (Marilyn), and Harriet Callaghan; her 10 much loved grandchildren Darcy (Shawna), Dana (Sean), Candace (Craig), Trisha, Marie, Scott, Mike (Lisa), Brad (Patti), Jeff (Debbie) and Jennifer (Travis); and her 13 precious great grandchildren, Kate, Ella, John, Jacob, Lucas, Kiana, Kyle, Sydney, Mathew, Tyler, Thomas, Emma, and Megan. Mom will be fondly remembered by brothers Don, Harry, Jim, John and Brian, her sister Mary Jackson, and her cousin Gladys Keeble. She is predeceased by her parents John and Susan Neill, her brothers Don and Bill and cousin Bob Costigan. Mom was born in Pincher Creek, AB on March 4, 1927 but spent her entire life in the Morrin community. She completed her  education in Morrin and Calgary. She married Vergel Braunberger in 1945 and she and Vergel farmed and raised 3 children. Vergel was tragically killed in an airplane crash in 1967. Margaret kept the farm operating with the help of Vergel’s father Jacob Braunberger and her family and neighbours until she married Albert Trentham in 1969 and he continued to farm until 1989. They remained on the farm until moving to Sunshine Lodge in Drumheller in March 2005. Mom was enthusiastic about life and was always busy. As a farm wife she not only did the cooking, canning, and cleaning, she drove the truck and tractor when needed. After her children were grown she worked at the Morrin Post Office, and the  Village of Morrin. Mom was an active community volunteer. She was treasurer of the Morrin United Church, Secretary of the Auxiliary to the Royal Canadian Legion, an active member of the United Church Women. She helped with a variety of the groups her children were involved with. When Mom was not working or volunteering she loved to curl, play bridge, sing in the church and community choirs, garden, sew, do a variety of handicrafts, listen to music, dance and travel. Mom was a very kind and generous woman. She had a strong sense of fairness, honesty, and family. As children you always felt a sense of unconditional love. Mom always believed that life was to be lived and enjoyed. She retained an active interest in life and held an optimistic view. Funeral Services will be held at the Morrin Community Hall on Thursday, September 16, 2010 at 2:00 pm. Memorial donations may be made to the Morrin United Church Memorial Fund or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
