May Pugh passed away peacefully in the Drumheller Hospital on October 30, 2008 at the age of 85 years. Born in Craigmyle, Alberta to Rudolph and Alice Shandera, May was raised on the family farm in the Hand Hills where she attended Elmer School. May married Howard Pugh of Dorothy, Alberta in 1947. During 43 years of marriage, May and Howard raised their family living in Dorothy, Rosedale, East Coulee and Drumheller. May was predeceased by her husband Howard in 1990, daughter Marilyn in 2001 and son Larry in 2003. She was also predeceased by brothers William, Raymond and Clarence and sister Annie. May leaves to mourn daughter-in-law Pearl (Larry) of East Coulee, son Bob (Corinne) of Okotoks, daughters Alice Kirkeby (Len) of Edson and Leona Ehrman (Jamie) of Olds, 11 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, brother Rudolph and sister Elsie of Drumheller. As a loving mother, grandmother and friend, May enjoyed working in her yard, decorating her home, playing bingo, card parties and casino trips. Her good friends and family were always a treasure to her. Funeral services for Mrs. May Helen Pugh will be held at Knox United Church, Drumheller, Alberta on Wednesday, November 5, 2008 at 2:00 pm with the Reverend Jan Richardson officiating. Interment will follow at Drumheller Municipal Cemetery. In lieu of floral tributes, the family requests donations be made to the Alberta Cancaer Foundation, c/o Tom Baker Cancer Centre 1331 – 29 Street N.W., Calgary, Alberta T2N 4N2.
