Ken Ho Mah
January 4, 1938 ~ March 11, 2024
86 years of age
It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Ken Ho Mah, longtime resident of the Drumheller Valley on March 11, 2024, in Calgary, Alberta at the Wing Kei Care Centre with his family by his side.
Ken was born on January 4, 1938, Canton, China. He took his schooling in Canton and Alberta. Ken emigrated to Canada in 1950 settling in the Drumheller Valley. He and his partners took over the Diana Restaurant in 1960. Ken married his bride Gina Yat Kwan in 1965. Over the years they operated the Diana Family Restaurant, serving both Chinese and Western Cuisine. In 1992 Ken became the sole owner of Diana Restaurant and continued serving the Drumheller area until 2010, when Ken and Gina retired. Ken knew many people, leaving a legacy of hard work and kindness. He will be missed by his loving family, Gina’s family in Calgary and Montreal, and a lifetime of friends.
Ken leaves to cherish his memory, his wife Gina, daughter Julie (Kevin) Aulenback of Drumheller, son Danny (Phyllis) of Toronto, Ontario, and grandchildren Brandy, Spencer, Lucas (Aulenback), and Edmund, Emilia (Mah), Gina’s family in Calgary and Montreal, and a lifetime of friends.
As per Ken’s wishes there will not be any services, as he wants people to remember him while he was happy and healthy. If friends so desire memorial donations may be made to the Drumheller and Area Health Foundation (emphasis on the Ambulance Service) or the Alberta Lung Association.
