May 13, 1944 - June 22, 2023

It is with heavy hearts the family of Lorry Cawiezel announce his peaceful passing on June 22, 2023, with family by his side. Lorry was born on May 13, 1944, in Drumheller Alberta, only child of Richard and Stella Cawiezel. Lorry and his parents lived in the Two Valley View area, where he attended school. They moved to Rumsey in 1957. Lorry worked for various farmers around the area growing up and then beginning in 1965 Lorry started working for Canadian National Railway (CNR) maintaining the track. In 1968, Lorry married the girl next door Doris Pennock. They lived in various places with Lorry’s job with the CNR, from Rumsey, Warden, Rockyford, Morrin and finally back to Lorry’s childhood farm west of Rowley in 1980. Lorry retired from the CNR in 1999 after 34 years. After retiring he enjoyed helping the Country Cookers Catering, working in his rose garden, spending time with his furry companions Mickey and then later Minnie. Lorry is survived by his three sons Craig (Lori), Lyle (Laura), and Lee, his five grandkids, Travis, Brittany, Cera, Zach and Skylar. Lorry is predeceased by his wife and best friend Doris, his parents Richard and Stella, in laws Harold and Laura Pennock, brother-in-law Trevor Newton, sisters-in-law Elsie Hatt and Darlene Pennock and his dog Mickey. The family would like to thank the staff at the Drumheller Hospital for the excellent care Dad received while there, and the staff at the Peter Lougheed Hospital in Calgary. If friends so desire, charitable donations can be made to the Rumsey Agricultural Society. P.O. Box 60, Rumsey, Alberta, T0J-2Y0. A Memorial Service will be held on Friday July 7th, 2023, at 1:00 p.m. at the Rumsey Community Hall.
