DELCROIX
Lillian (Betty) Mary

October 18, 1924 - January 30, 2022

Lillian (Betty) Mary Delcroix, age 97, passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 30, 2022 at the Three Hills Hospital. She was born in Drumheller, Alberta on October 18/1924 to Fred and Mabel Hill of Nacmine, Alberta and was the oldest of 4 children.
Betty attended the Nacmine school until grade 9 where she then began her lifelong career of housekeeping. She started at the young age of 15 housekeeping for Dr. Spady, The Nacmine Hotel and Ms. McLean’s Boarding House. At the age of 20 she married Ferd Delcroix in November of 1944 at Carbon, Alberta. They were blessed with two children Fred Delcroix and Sherry (Delcroix) Smeal. Betty continued her career in housekeeping/kitchen at the Drumheller Hospital for over 20 years where she eventually retired in November of 1986.
Betty was always providing us with laughter and joy. She was independent, private, witty, hardworking and lovingly outspoken. She was athletic in her younger years and tells stories of her passion for baseball, fishing and swimming in the Red Deer river. After her husband Ferd passed away in 1977, Betty continued to live in their Newcastle family home for over 70 years. She moved to the Three Hills Golden Hills Lodge in 2015 to be closer to family.
Betty was extremely loved and will be greatly missed by her family. Nothing gave her more joy than watching her great-grandchildren playing sports like hockey and baseball.
Betty is survived by her daughter Sherry (Ralph) Smeal, grandson Garnet (Vicki) Smeal, granddaughter Melanie (Jason) Hagel and her 4 great-grandchildren Lisa, Ethan, Garett and Devon.
At Betty’s request, there will be no funeral.
