FLATERUD
Jane Ellen
June 6, 1946 - January 6, 2022
It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Jane Ellen Flaterud, 75, of Munson, AB on January 6, 2022, with family by her side.
She was born to the late Linton and Betty Cook on June 6, 1946 in Rosetown, SK. Jane graduated from Kyle High School and went on to the University of Saskatoon to pursue a career in teaching. Her career path took many turns over the years. She spent many years as an accountant and retired from her all-time favourite job at Western GM in Drumheller.
She married Glen Flaterud in 1967 and started their family soon after. They moved to Calgary in 1969 and started to build the dream. With hard work and sacrifice they bought a home, owned a business, travelled and retired to Munson in 1999. Jane and Glen were to celebrate their 55th wedding anniversary in February. Jane is survived by her husband Glen and her three children, Sharon Soloway (Rod), Delee Helm and Curtis Flaterud. She is also survived by six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren, all of which meant the world to her. Jane was predeceased by her brothers John and Tom Cook in 2021.
Jane was a loving wife, mom, grandma, GG and friend. She loved quilting and spent hours teaching and sewing with her grandkids. She was an avid reader and always had a book or two on the go. Jane always made home feel like home to friends and family alike, whether you were sharing a meal, a caesar or a conversation.
Her legacy is one of love, courage, strength, tenacity and warmth. She was our soft place to land. All that have been touched by her will miss her greatly. Our family is so grateful to all of those that loved and supported Jane through this difficult time. Your phone calls, texts, pictures, letters and visits touched her deeply and she was amazed to learn how much she was loved. We are so thankful to have had the time to make sure she knew just how important she was to all of us.
Arrangements for a celebration of Jane’s life will be made at a later date.
